Physical Science  (Grade 9)

Physical Science is the study of Chemistry and Physics. The first semester is Physics, the interaction of nonliving matter and energy. We look into the mechanical systems of force, work, motion, velocity, and acceleration.  The second semester focuses on the interaction of Matter and Energy and concepts of basic chemistry. We also investigate the structure and interactions of Matter. There are daily demos, quick labs, and many opportunities for the student to have a hands on learning experience.

Biology  (Grade 9 (Advanced Science Track) or Grade 10)

Biology involves an in-depth study of living organisms. During the 1st semester, an emphasis is placed on Molecular Biology including Biochemistry, Cellular Energy and Cell Reproduction. 2nd Semester Genetics, Structure and Function of DNA & Protein Synthesis, Natural Selection & Ecology are discussed.

Anatomy & Physiology  (Grades 11-12)

Prerequisites: Biology I

Anatomy and Physiology is a course designed for students planning to enter any Health Care Field or for those students interested in laboratory science or how the human body works. This course covers a majority of the body systems and focuses on key terminology students need to be successful in a college level Anatomy and Physiology class. Students leave this class with a new appreciation and deeper understanding of how the body works.

Chemistry  (Grades 10-12)

Prerequisites: Teacher Approval

Chemistry involves an in-depth study of matter. Students will study concepts ranging from the structure of atoms to the principles of thermodynamics. Engaging labs and activities will help students understand these concepts on a deeper level. This class is for students in the advanced science track and/or students interested in pursuing a STEM career (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) or a healthcare career.

Conceptual Chemistry  (Grades 11-12)

Conceptual Chemistry provides students with a generalized understanding of the basic principles of chemistry. Students will participate in many hands-on labs and activities to understand the structure and properties of matter. This class is designed to cover the same general concepts Chemistry will, but with a reduced emphasis on mathematics. This course is for students who have not taken chemistry, not currently taking chemistry, and not planning on taking STEM or health care related classes in the future.

Physics  (Grades 11-12)

Physics is the basic study of force, motion, heat, nuclear energy, light, sound and electricity. The course is designed for students who are interested in science and those needing an academic background for their career preparation. Much emphasis is placed on relating the subject’s concepts to the student’s life experiences. The course involves reading, problem solving, laboratory experiences, and technical writing
