The Band is taught by Mr Pretz one hour a day. During the first semester, the band serves as the Fighting Irish Marching Band appearing at all home Varsity football games. In addition, they attend several parades (such as the Labor Day parade in Chapman). They attend Central States Marching Festival at KSU. The band also plays at home Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball games.The Concert Band appears at Holiday Concert, Winter Band Concert, Band Night, FFA BBQ Concert and Graduation. The CHS Concert Band performs annually at State Large Group Contest.

The CHS Jazz Band is selected from students in the Concert Band and performs two concerts during the second semester: The Jazz Jam Concert, and Popcorn and Jazz Concert. Other opportunities that individual students can participate in may include: District and State Band Tryouts, Solo and Ensemble Contest, KSU Concert Band Clinic, NCKL League Band, State and International Lion's Band, and John Philip Sousa Honor Band.
